This video was filmed in December of 2009, the same year I came to Japan on the JET Programme. The director says this video is about showing “the real voice of Japanese students”, reflecting on their experiences studying English through junior and senior high school.
He says, “about 30 students analyzed their language learning histories and then wrote recommendations for students, teachers, and the Ministry of Education (MEXT).”
It is a very interesting video and a rare portrait of English learning in Japan. Take a chance to take a look at the perspective of those who have run the gauntlet and made it to university (i.e. passed the exams).
